TRAINING PROGRAMME IN VALUE CREATION PEDAGOGY

– Make your teaching engaging for all students — practically, not just in theory — through a pedagogical idea based on a solid research foundation

– Design, implement and assess teaching that lets students create value for others as integrated part of your teaching

– Become part of a community of practice that turns everyday teaching into evidence-rich expertise

Overview

This training gives you practical mastery of Value Creation Pedagogy (VCP): learning-through-creating-value-for-others. In VCP, learning remains the goal, while value creation for others is the powerful means that amplifies motivation, depth of understanding, and responsibility for learning.

You’ll learn how to design value-creating challenges for your students, how to orchestrate authentic feedback from outsiders, and how to blend theory with practice so students experience meaning, mastery and momentum. The result is stronger engagement, richer knowledge development, and a more cohesive class culture.

Value Creation Pedagogy

Value Creation Pedagogy is a way of teaching where students learn by trying to create value for people outside the classroom. The value can be social, cultural, or economic, and the key is that students get authentic feedback from the people they aim to benefit. Subject knowledge is taught as the means to make that value creation work, tightly interweaving theory and practice. This approach often boosts motivation, deepens understanding, and helps students develop identities as capable contributors.

At its core, VCP rests on three principles:

  1. Value creation for others, with feedback. Students try to create value—social, cultural, or economic—for at least one person outside their own group/class/school, and they receive some kind of feedback from that person. The attempt itself is what counts; feedback acts like “rocket fuel” for learning.

  2. Interaction with real people. Social, emotionally charged encounters with outsiders provide the “spark” that drives deeper learning and personal growth.
  3. A fine-grained blend of learning and doing. Theory and practice are interwoven so that subject knowledge becomes the indispensable means to create value for others.

VCP works across ages and subjects—from primary to upper-secondary to higher education—and in general, VET and work-integrated contexts. Examples include missions for real recipients (e.g., community groups, NGOs, local businesses or care settings) that elicit authentic feedback and visible impact.

The free training programme in VCP

This is a 100% free, self-paced, 10-week training programme with weekly missions that help you plan and launch VCP in your setting. Expect ~1 hour/week for reading, watching short videos, and writing a brief weekly reflection.

  • What you’ll do: Read short, practical pieces; design small value-creating challenges for your students; and draft your first VCP study plan.

  • How it works: We’ll host a cohort space in a reflective platform (Loopme) where you post your weekly micro-reflection and receive brief feedback.

  • Why free? Everyday Institute is a non-profit devoted to everyday research and practice; offering this training at scale is the most impactful thing we can do.

How to get started

You start simply by joining a reflection group in our reflection platform Loopme. Use this link to join a group now. When a group becomes full, we will replace this link with a new link to a new group:

Coaching

  • We will provide individual digital feedback on your reflections after completed action tasks.
  • We will try to also provide support on the study plans you develop as part of this training, but if we end up in time constraints, we will prioritize those study plans which we find the most interesting and well-prepared.

Community

Participants in this training tend to be engaged change-makers who share a passion for innovative development of education. This builds up a strong community of action-oriented teachers who help each other to succeed in a broad variety of teaching situations. You will be invited to join this community upon completion of the VCP training.

Certificate

All participants who have completed the training receive a certificate via Everyday Institute.
